Head of B2B Sales
Two openings.
Apply for this role. Reading the page is not applying. The application is the only way to be considered, and it is the whole first step.
Why this role exists
We need someone to oversee these items:
- You build the firm's first pipeline. Every client today came from somebody the Interim CEO knew.
- What you sell is paid every month. One client closed is revenue for years.
- You own the loop, cold call to signature, then build the team that runs it.
Logistics
- Company stage: Small, growing firm with a lean leadership bench.
- Start: As soon as the contract is signed.
- Location: Remote. Open to people in India and Eastern Europe.
- Reports to: the Head of Delivery.
- Direct reports: None at first. You hire a team once the work runs without you.
- Video: On for every meeting.
- Equipment: Your own. See "The technology you need to work here".
Work hours
- Full time is 7 am to 4 pm Austin time.
- That's 2 pm to 11 pm in Warsaw, Belgrade, and Skopje.
- Those are the hours clients answer the phone, which is why they are not negotiable.
- Monday through Friday, year round.
Who you sell to
- Small businesses making $2 million to $10 million a year.
- You sell accounting, tax, and virtual CFO work.
- In the long run, listeners close more deals than talkers. No corporate small talk and no fake friendliness.
What you own
- The pipeline. You find and reach clients by cold calling, cold email, and physical postcards.
- Recurring revenue. Monthly and annual contracts, cold touch to signature.
- The system. You do the work yourself first. As the process becomes repeatable you hire and lead the team that runs it.
- The scoreboard. You report your own numbers to Operations: leads, then calls, then closed clients.
How your results are measured
A clean scoreboard, so nobody wins one client and coasts.
- 16 new discovery calls booked every month.
- Ramping up to 4 new clients closed every month.
- Your weekly outreach target across phone, email and postcards.
What the job is like once you are here
- Selling from day 2. Onboarding runs 90 days and you learn by doing it.
- If something will be late, you say so first. Nobody chases you. Improvement, not image.
- We read your scorecard together every week.
How we work
- We work at the same hours most of the time, and some of the work is done asynchronously. You will not always have somebody online to ask, so you write things down and you keep going.
- Say the thing that matters. We treat each other as whole people and we value emotional maturity. You are the same person here as you are at home. You say the thing that matters instead of waiting to be asked for it.
- Who does not fit. Anybody who needs a rigid corporate wall to feel safe, and anybody who needs their coworkers to be family.
- Drive. We work like a sports team. We back each other hard, and performance matters because we want to be good at this.
- Truth is comfort here.
- The same person throughout. We are the same before and after hiring, and we expect you to be. Becoming somebody else once the contract is signed is how this ends.
Pay
How pay works here. The parts, how each one grows, the coverage bonus and sales commission.
What we offer
- Very little management overhead. Every job has some, and we will not pretend otherwise. We cut the useless meetings and the politics. Your scoreboard says how you are doing.
- A team that runs on systems. We read your numbers every week to find what would help you hit the target.
- A team of your own. Eventually you hire and lead people who work the way this page describes.
Career growth
- Tell us what you want over the next three years. We will help.
- You do the selling first, then you build the process, then you lead the people who run it.
- The way up here is the same for everybody: the work happens without being chased, and the person above you stops being needed on it.
Full time here
You are passionate about your work. Full time here means 8 to 10 hours a day, because you want to see things through to finished.
Who we want here
- Women. We want more of them here.
- Autistic people. The rules are written down. Nobody has to read a room.
- Direct communicators.
- People who think in systems. When something breaks, they look for what caused it instead of fixing only the part they can see.
- People who are optimistic about the outcome when they are under stress or facing a challenge.
- People who move fast and get a lot done.
- People who are all in.
- People who want the company to grow and are excited to help make that happen.
- People who, when they are stressed, notice what they are feeling, then say what they need and write it down. Stopping at the feeling, with nothing written down, is not a fit here.
Who should not apply
This is not the role for you if you:
- Wait for somebody else to pick a thing up, or need the work handed to you tidy and already decided.
- Report a problem and stop there.
- Try somebody once, get no answer, and give up.
- Go quiet when something needs raising, or find telling the truth consistently hard.
- Read hidden meanings and office politics instead of the plain words.
- Overstate what you can do, or are different before you are hired and after.
- Have changed jobs every year or two, or want short projects and a work whenever schedule.
What we need from you
- Spoken English clear enough for calls with US businesses. We check with a roleplay.
- Comfortable with outbound calling, every day.
- Experience booking appointments or selling to US clients.
- A track record selling monthly or annual contracts to businesses.
- Outreach every day. Phone, email, mail.
- Able to run two campaigns at once.
- Strong follow up habits, and discipline about logging every call.
- The discipline to do the same thing daily, 1 percent better.
- Your AI experience to reduce human effort where it is not value additive.
- You improve the system while doing the work.
- Your career goals for the next three years.
Software we use
- Zoom phone
- Canopy: client records and billing workflows.
- A CRM integrated with AI: where every lead, call and proposal is tracked.
- Our internal hub: SOPs, credentials, daily priorities.
- Google Sheets for lists and tracking, Docs for scripts.
- Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive, and Gemini, which comes with Google Workspace.
- Other technology as needed.
You use the SOPs that exist from day one, and you improve them as you work. Training is hands on and happens while you are doing the work.
The technology you need to work here
The setup is the same for every role here. The technology you need to work here lists the computer, the internet, the power backup, the audio and the workspace.
How to apply
Fill in the application. It is the whole first step.
It asks for a web address for a short video recording answering both of these questions. Put the video anywhere we can open without an account, and paste the address into the application.
- What do you do when you get a task/project you do not understand?
- From a logistics standpoint, when is the earliest that you could start full time if you were to be accepted?
Apply now. If you have read this far and it sounds like you, send it. We read every one.
